Today, December 1, we commemorate the valiant struggle of the West Papuan
peoples for self determination and independence. This fight for land and life
of West Papuans is an experience shared by all Indigenous Peoples in the world.
We laud the
West Papuans for bravely facing harassment, intimidation, repression,
imprisonment and even death at the hands of Indonesia and its foreign masters.
Indonesia wants the West Papuans silenced, and it is committing ethnocide by hunting down
any and all West Papuans who do not bow down it.
More than
500,000 West Papuans have already given their lives for the cause of self
determination and independence of West Papua. We must continue what they have
fought for, and never for one second should we back down from the struggle. The
blood of our martyrs demand justice.
The future
demands that our children inherit a free country, and we must heed the
challenge of our time. As we remember today, we also remind ourselves that the
fight for a self determination is far from over. IPMSDL stands
in unity with the West Papuans in their struggle for liberation. West Papua will be free again!
Free West
Papua! Papua Merdeka!
