Dear Mr. Prime
Minister,
On behalf of Institute of Research, Analysis and Development for Legal
Aid, West Papua, please allow me to extend my deepest appreciation for your
continuous support to the struggle of the people of West Papua.
I specifically would like to express our unlimited gratitude
for your most outstanding and treasured speech in a United Nations General
Assembly 28th of September, where you called on the UN to reconsider
Indonesian sovereignty over our beloved country West Papua. Your call for the appointment of a UN special
representative to investigate West Papua’s political status was the only peaceful
way to initiate a lasting and final political solution for West Papua.
The people of West Papua cannot thank you enough for what
you, and the people of the Republic of Vanuatu, have done for us. As we continue to press forward, enduring the
hardships on the daily basis due to illegal occupation of our land and
continuous violations of our rights, your recent speech at the UN was the most
effective motivation and reminder to every West Papuan, that we are not alone
in this long struggle. With the help of
God Almighty, and the strong support of our beloved Vanuatu brothers and
sisters, we know that our sacred dream will soon be realized.
On behalf of the people of West Papua, may I request your
assistance to insist on the members of Melanesian Spearhead Group to undertake
their promised visit to West Papua in the near future. It is very important for the MSG leadership
to observe by themselves the fate of the West Papuans in their ancestral
land. It is the most objective way for
the Melanesian leaders to directly learn by themselves the true experiences of
the indigenous West Papuans.. I hope
this visit will give them the necessary facts before MSG makes the decision on
the membership of West Papua in MSG.
May our God Almighty continues to bless the Republic of
Vanuatu and its leaders. May God
continues to bless and sustain you, Mr. Prime Minister in your daily activity.
